Tabs accumulate quickly. You open a page for reference, leave it open "just in case," and move on to the next task. Before long, you have dozens of idle tabs sitting in the background, cluttering your view and eating up system memory.
With the new Auto-Archiving feature, TabsPrompt helps you maintain a lean browser without the manual maintenance.
Set a lifespan for your tabs
You can now define how long a tab should stay open if you aren't using it.
Head to Settings and toggle on Auto-Archiving. You choose the threshold—from a strict 1 day to a more lenient 7 days or more. If a tab sits untouched for that duration, TabsPrompt automatically archives and closes the tab.
When you enable the feature, you can choose to either run the cleanup immediately to clear out your backlog instantly, or to wait for the next cycle, which occurs automatically every morning.
Reclaim system memory
Browser performance is often a numbers game. Every open tab consumes RAM.
When Auto-Archiving runs, it doesn't just hide tabs; it closes them. You can also see exactly how much memory you've reclaimed. Seeing "471 MB freed" confirms that your browser has more breathing room for the tasks you are actually working on.

A safety net for your history
We know it can feel risky to let software close your tabs. You worry you might lose that one article you meant to read.
TabsPrompt addresses this by moving these tabs to a dedicated "Automatically Closed Tabs" section in your Archives. They aren't deleted. They are simply moved out of your way.
- Review easily: Scroll through the list to see what was closed.
- Restore quickly: Click any item to reopen it if you still need it.
- Automatic cleanup: Items in this archive list are kept for 90 days before being permanently removed, giving you plenty of time to change your mind.
This feature allows you to browse with a clear workspace, knowing your data is safe if you need to step back in time.
